Andrea Pottgen, owner of Alliance Psychological Services, is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Alliance Psychological Services. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and French in 2002 from Washington & Jefferson College. In 2006, she graduated from the College of Charleston with a Master of Education in Languages degree. She earned a Master of Science in Education in Community Counseling in 2013 from Duquesne University.
Andrea believes that the most important part of good clinical work is the therapeutic relationship. She focuses on a client centered approach to treatment while infusing principles from cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapy as well as mindfulness techniques. In addition, Andrea is trained in cognitive processing therapy, TF-CBT (trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy) and is certified in EMDR (eye movement reprocessing and desensitization). Andrea aims to create a supportive and non-judgmental space for clients to focus on their strengths and reach their goals. Andrea has worked in both individual and family settings with clients ranging from three years of age through late stage of life and has extensive experience working in trauma, specifically sexual abuse and human trafficking.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, running, hiking and spending time with friends and family.
