Kate Appolonia
Pre-Licensed Therapist
Kate is a pre-licensed counselor with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University. Having worked in a variety of settings with a wide range of age groups, her professional experience includes college counseling, survivor advocacy, and supporting teens and adults living with chronic illness. She is also experienced in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, OCD, and grief.
Kate works from a relational-cultural perspective, as she believes that we heal through and toward connection with ourselves, our community, and our therapists! Her goal is to cultivate a warm, affirming space for individuals to embody and express their authentic selves without judgement. She encourages creativity in-session by incorporating art, writing, and play and uses modalities such as internal family systems, compassion-focused therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
Given her relational-cultural approach, Kate also feels that is important to acknowledge the larger sociopolitical structure in which we exist and invites exploration of how various systems in clients’ lives impact their wellbeing. She is open to working with individuals of all ages and is taking steps toward becoming trained and certified in trauma treatment.
In her spare time, Kate enjoys writing, walking, going to concerts, dancing, and spending time with her nieces and nephew!
